Feminist Archive North (FAN)

Feminist Archive North (FAN) are our sister organisation based in Special Collections, in the Brotherton Library at the University of Leeds.

FAN was created in the 1980s, when material from the Feminist Archive South was relocated to the North of England.

FAN was housed first in the University of Bradford and then in Leeds Metropolitan University. During this time the collection grew. In 2001 FAN was moved to Special Collections at the University of Leeds.

From the website you can browse detailed information about FAN’s Major Collections and a resource database on Using Archives to Teach Gender.

Another highlight from the website is a very useful and detailed chronology of the Women’s Liberation Movement.

Details on how to contact the Feminist Archive North can be accessed on this page.
